Haryana: 6 arrested in illegal betting racket bust linked to Mahadev Book

Cyber crime police in Sector-71 area of Gurugram, Haryana has busted an illegal gambling operation and nabbed six individuals during the raid. The arrested individuals are identified as Karan, Shaanu, Gulshan, Shaan-e-Alam, Dilsher and Chanderpal.

According to the report, officer in charge of Cyber Crime at the Police department, Shahid Ahmad received a tip-off on the group operating online gambling operation from a rented flat in Sector-71 Gurugram.

Working with the information in hand, ACP Cyber Crime, Vipin Ahlawat conducted a raid with a team and arrested the people allegedly involved in online gambling and betting.

In an official statement, Ahlawat said, “These accused were found using various websites like betbhai9.com, cricbet99, laser247, play247, betbhai, and dil999 to carry out online gambling,” according to daijiworld.

All the above-mentioned sites are owned and operated by Saurabh Chandrakar. Notably, Chandrakar is the mastermind behind Mahadev Book and several other banned betting platforms, which are being run illegally in India.

Further interrogation revealed that these people were operating since last five months and using these websites to take illegal bets. All the websites are linked to Mahadev book, one of the biggest illegal betting network in India.

In recent days, Chhattisgarh police has also been constantly on the lookout for people linked with Mahadev Book and operating these illegal services. Several arrested regarding the same has been made, with the most recent one being a huge bust with 14 people arrested and the police discovering over Rs 30 crore in several dummy bank accounts.

“Police seized seven mobile phones and one laptop which were being used by the suspects for their online gambling operations. The accused will be produced in the court for further proceedings. The investigation is underway,” the officer further informed.

All the arrested individuals are currently charged under Section 419, 420 IPC & 13 Gambling Act, 66D IT Act at the police station for cyber crime in South Gurugram.
