Punters have bet heavily on the political fortunes of two major political parties in Andhra Pradesh. The South Indian state is known for its affinity towards betting and gambling with wagering on election outcome as no exception.
Andhra went to a simultaneous assembly and lok sabha elections with polling on May 13 and results on June 4. The high decible political campaign saw main opposition party team with Janasena Party headed Telugu star Pawan Kalyan and Modi’s BJP.
Punters are placing stakes on winning chances of candidates from many key constituencies. Bets are also placed on majorities of the candidates with heavy demand for Pawan Kalyan who is contesting from Pithapuram and Lokesh, son of TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu who is contesting from Mangalagiri. Both of them lost in the 2019 elections.
NRIs, students, farmers, labourers, businessmen, women, doctors, techies, aqua traders, bullion traders, employees of private and government organisations and even petty vendors are reportedly placing bets. Most of these sections also traveled few hundreds of kilometres on the voting day to exercise their vote.
The state saw highest voter turnout among all the states in recent times. The bets placed would also increase after the release of exit polls which will be out after the final phase of polling on June 1.
As per intelligence reports, punters are organising betting by calculating various factors such as rural voting percentage, senior citizens, women voting, voting by first-time electors, votes polled in urban areas from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and caste equations.
In rural areas, people are recording the bets in writing witnessed by village elders. Realtors who were hit by capital boom crash with decision of YS Jagan to have three capitals are placing heavy bets on comeback of Chandrababu Naidu as the Chief Minister.

Telugu diaspora settled outside Andhra is also keenly watching and few are placing bets in the cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
People are also discussing the voting pattern and vote banks of each of the parties. Few of them are placing bets on Congress making a comeback in the state assembly after a ten year silence.
