According to insiders at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), former cricketers Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq are no longer part of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup selection committee.

This decision comes in the wake of Pakistan‘s underwhelming performance in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2024, where the team did not advance past the group stage.

While Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq have been sacked, Mohammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq will continue their roles as selectors for now. The PCB plans to appoint new selectors to replace Razzaq and Wahab.

Additionally, discussions are underway on the possibility of replacing Wahab Riaz from his current role as senior manager overseeing the national team. As per reports, a senior cricketer or bureau chief could step into this position.

No Words on Babar Azam

Besides this, the Pakistan Cricket Board has not made any announcements regarding Babar Azam‘s captaincy, despite criticisms of his leadership during Pakistan’s recent group-stage exits in consecutive World Cups.
