Rahul Dravid, known for his gentlemanly conduct in cricket, has refused a bonus from the BCCI that was considerably higher than that of his support staff, highlighting his commitment to fairness.

After India’s win in the T20 World Cup, the BCCI revealed a bonus scheme. According to the plan, Rahul Dravid and the Indian team were to receive ₹5 crore each, whereas the support staff, including bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dilip, and batting coach Vikram Rathore, were designated ₹2.5 crore each.

“Rahul wanted the same bonus money ( ₹2.5 crore) as the rest of his support staff (bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dilip and batting coach Vikram Rathore). We respect his sentiments,” a BCCI source said.

Dravid made a similar stand as head coach of India’s victorious U-19 World Cup team in 2018. When it was proposed that he receive ₹50 lakh while the support staff would get ₹20 lakh each and the players ₹30 lakh each, Dravid declined the arrangement. He insisted that the BCCI award everyone equally.
