In a surprising turn of events, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been accused of committing age fraud to play longer for the Indian cricket team.

Notably, Rishabh Pant, who claims to be 26 years old, allegedly falsified his age by three years. He is reportedly 29 years old and will turn 30 this upcoming October.

According to a viral post, Rishabh Pant, born in Uttarakhand, went to Rajasthan to play cricket. After discovering his actual date of birth, authorities in Rajasthan reported it to the school, after which Pant left Rajasthan and moved to Delhi, where Bishan Singh Bedi reportedly lodged a complaint against him.

“Check out his school records and dob certificate which was original. That was changed when he went to Rajasthan to play. But the school there probed and reported this issue. Then he left Rajasthan and came to delhi. At delhi Bishan singh bedi lodged a FIR naming him also,” X user wrote.

“The matter was hurriedly laid to rest by DDCA as this could have given Bedi a chance in DDCA election. Only 2 players were banned from playing Syed Mustaq Trophy. But the inquiry against pant and others was never initiated. Ask his class fellows who passed from Roorkee school,” he added.

In another post, a Twitter user, claiming to be Pant’s classmate in boarding school, alleged that Pant was three years his senior and accused him of committing age fraud.

“This champ is from my school and was 3 years senior to me! Mein yhaa 27 ka ho gya aur ye bhai sahab abhi tak 24-25 hi reh gaye,” another X user had written.

These social media posts are from a few years back, but they have resurfaced and gone viral once again. It will be interesting to see if the board takes any action against Rishabh Pant.
