The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly working on finalizing the retention policy ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

While the final call on the number of retentions is awaited, Cricbuzz has reported that the salary cap for the IPL 2025 mega auction is anticipated to be INR 120 CR. 

Salary Cap for IPL 2025 Mega Auction 

Franchise CEOs were consulted regarding the player purse. Last year, the team purse was set at INR 100 crore. It has now been increased by 20 crore, giving teams 120 crore to spend in the IPL 2025 mega auction, with this salary cap expected to remain unchanged for the next three years.  

How Many Retentions for IPL 2025 Mega Auction? 

In the previous IPL cycle, teams were allowed to retain a maximum of four players. According to recent reports, the BCCI is likely to maintain the existing 3+1 retention policy, which will allow franchises to retain three players and hold one Right to Match (RTM) card.
