West Indies, needing 385 runs for an improbable win, were all out for just 143 runs. The hero for England was young off-spinner Shoaib Bashir, who ripped through the West Indies batting order.

Bashir claimed his first five-wicket haul on English soil, dismantling the Windies batting with figures of 5 for 41.

Earlier, West Indies had taken a first-innings lead, scoring 457 runs. However, England’s strong batting display in the second innings put them completely in control of the match.

Openers Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett had provided a solid start for England in their second innings, putting on a 119-run partnership.

However, wickets fell in clusters after their dismissals, and the onus was on Root and Brook to rebuild the innings. The duo batted with great composure, frustrating the West Indies bowlers and taking the game away from them.

West Indies bowlers, particularly Jayden Seales, showed promise with three wickets each. However, they were unable to contain the English batters for long stretches, and Bashir’s exceptional bowling in the second innings put the game to bed for England.
