Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Umran Malik is likely to be released by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction.
As per a report, Umran Malik is on the wish list of many teams, including the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who might target him in the upcoming auction.
Umran Malik has been with Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2021. While he impressed with his fast bowling in the earlier years, his accuracy has since declined.
In the IPL 2024, he played only one match for SRH. Malik picked 22 wickets from 14 matches in the 2022 season. However, he played just eight matches in IPL 2024, picking five wickets at an average of 43.40 and an economy rate of 10.85.
Umran Malik Dropped from Indian Team
On the other hand, Umran Malik has also been dropped from the Indian cricket team, having played his last T20 match for India back in February 2023. Since then, he has not been picked in any of the squads.
Heading to a new franchise might help Umran Malik as they can back him and properly guide him. There are likely many franchises, apart from RCB, who will be looking to target him in the auction.
