Former Pakistan cricketer Tanveer Ahmed stated that Gautam Gambhir did not deserve to be the head coach of the Indian cricket team.

Gautam Gambhir has recently been appointed as the head coach of the team, taking over the reins from Rahul Dravid, whose tenure as the head coach of the team came to an end after the T20 World Cup 2024.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s former fast bowler Tanveer Ahmed has stated that Gautam Gambhir was not deserving one for the role and even accused him with the infamous ‘parchi’ remark.

Tanveer Ahmed believes that VVS Laxman was the right one to succeed Rahul Dravid. Notably, the current chief of NCA, VVS Laxman has led India on various occasions as interim head coach during Dravid’s tenure.

“VVS Laxman should have become the head coach of the Indian team because he has been with the India B team as coach for a long time. It seems as if Gautam Gambhir’s appointment is a ‘Parchi’ case,” Ahmed said as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

VVS Laxman also accompanied the Indian cricket team led by Shubman Gill to Zimbabwe for the five-match T20I series, which India won comprehensively 4-1.

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir,  one of the finest Indian batters of his time has a plethora of coaching experience and he also recently led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to IPL title in 2024 edition of the tournament.
