The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will shortly hold a meeting with IPL franchise representatives to deliberate on retention policies and additional topics before the mega auction.
In the meantime, several franchises have submitted their suggestions to the BCCI, including a proposal to raise a player’s salary based on their performance in the tournament.
One of the major proposals the BCCI is considering and plans to approve is boosting the IPL team salary cap from INR 90 crores to INR 130-140 crores for the 2025 mega auction.
“It has been pending for a while. The salary cap is likely to be increased from Rs 90 crores to Rs 130-140 crores. As per the media rights agreement in 2002, IPL 2025 & 26 will see 84 matches, while IPL 2027 will include 94 matches. It means more matches, with little gaps between them. The players are bound to ask for and expect more money,” a source was quoted as saying by Times of India.
A clear picture of the final decisions will be revealed after the BCCI’s meeting with the IPL owners at the end of this month at the updated BCCI office in Wankhede Stadium.
