Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh stated that the Indian cricket team should not travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to security concerns, as there is no safety for the Indian players there.

Notably, Pakistan is set to host the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, and while all the teams have agreed to participate in the tournament, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not given a green signal to it yet.

In a recent ICC annual meeting held in Colombo, it was reported that no conversation regarding India’s travel to Pakistan was initiated. Later, the PCB requested the ICC to convince India to travel to Pakistan.

Here’s what Harbhajan Singh told IANS:

“Why should the Indian team go to Pakistan? The security issue there is significant. The situation in Pakistan is such that incidents occur almost every day. I don’t think it’s safe to go there. The stance of the BCCI is absolutely correct, and nothing is more important than the safety of our players…”

Pakistan Against Hybrid Model

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board has made it clear to the ICC that they will not allow the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to be hosted in a hybrid model, similar to the Asia Cup 2023.

Mohsin Naqvi has stated that if India wants to play in the Champions Trophy, they must travel to Pakistan. Earlier, there were reports that Sri Lanka and Dubai were shortlisted as neutral venues to host the matches involving India.
