Former Pakistan cricketer, Basit Ali, has blamed Ishan Kishan for his situation. Notably, Ishan Kishan is no longer in the scheme of things for the Indian cricket team currently.

Things started going downhill for Ishan Kishan when he pulled out of the South Africa tour midway and traveled back to India citing fatigue. This did not sit well with the Indian management, including head coach Rahul Dravid.

As if that wasn’t enough, Ishan Kishan later disobeyed the BCCI’s order to participate in the Ranji Trophy. Soon after, the BCCI excluded him from the central contract list alongside Shreyas Iyer.

While Shreyas Iyer is expected to make a comeback to the central contract soon, Ishan Kishan has fallen down the pecking order and is not expected to make a comeback to the Indian cricket team in any format soon.

Basit Ali, opening up on Ishan Kishan missing out on the central contract, said:

“Ishan Kishan has fallen down the pecking order. Woh bhi thoda sa fashion mein lag gaya tha (He too got into fashion a bit),” Basit said on his YouTube channel.

Furthermore, Basit Ali talked about the downfall of Sri Lankan cricket and said that they did not deserve to qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025 after their continuously poor performance.

Notably, Sri Lanka lost the ongoing T20I series against India. Earlier, they failed to qualify for the super stage in the T20 World Cup 2024 and suffered a group stage exit. Their captain, Wanindu Hasaranga, also stepped down from captaincy after the World Cup debacle.

Here’s what Basit Ali said about Sri Lanka:

“Sri Lanka deserved to not qualify for the Champions Trophy. It seems as if they are also more concerned about maintaining friendships, just as we have seen in the Pakistan team. My personal opinion is that their women’s team has performed better. Sri Lanka’s men’s team should learn from the women’s team how to keep the belief,” Basit Ali said.
