The Sri Lankan cricket team has raised concerns over the security conditions in England due to recent anti-immigrant protests across several cities.

In reply, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has assured Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and its players of the enhanced safety measures being implemented.

The players in England for their pre-series training have raised worries about the ongoing unrest, particularly as there appears to be no specific security plan for this portion of their visit.

The nine-member group, consisting of seven players and two support staff, has asked Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to enhance security arrangements in the coming days as they travel to and from a venue close to London.

Meanwhile, the UK government has reassured sporting organizations that the country remains safe for events, following an emergency call on Wednesday. UK police have pledged to take measures to prevent any violence.

Sri Lanka is scheduled to play a three-Test series against England, beginning on August 21 in Manchester. The second Test will be held at Lord’s on August 29, with the series concluding at The Oval on September 6.
