With the upcoming Bangladesh Test series scheduled next month and a three-Test home series against New Zealand in October in mind, the BCCI’s selection committee is likely to name India captain Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli for the Duleep Trophy.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who have been the pillars of Team India for over a decade, are set to return to domestic cricket after a long hiatus. They have rarely played domestic cricket since their debut in international cricket, often opting for rest during their time off.

On the other hand, veteran fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah‘s extended break is expected to continue as he has not been named in any of the white-ball squads for India since their T20 World Cup victory in June.

The report from The Indian Express stated that with spin-friendly pitches likely for the home series against Bangladesh, Jaspirt Bumrah may be rested, with Mohammed Shami, who has been out due to an ankle injury since the ODI World Cup last year, almost ready to return.
