The Australian batting legend Steve Smith has confirmed that he will be putting his name in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, set to take place later this year.

The former Australian captain has expressed his desire to play in the IPL once again. This comes after he went unsold in the IPL 2024 auction, which took place in Dubai last year.

Steve Smith, one of the finest Australian batters, remains the backbone of the Australian team in Test cricket and ODIs, but it is in the shortest format where his performance has seen a decline.

However, in the recently concluded Major League Cricket (MLC), Steve Smith led Washington Freedom to their maiden MLC title, showcasing his leadership by leading the team from the front.

Steve Smith finished as the joint second-highest run-scorer in the MLC 2024, with 336 runs in nine matches at a staggering strike rate of 148.67 and an average of 56.

There is no doubt that Steven Smith has worked on his power-hitting skills, and if he keeps it up, there is a good chance of him getting picked up in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
