In an unexpected twist, Rishabh Pant, the Indian cricket team’s wicketkeeper-batter, bowled the final over of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 game between Purani Dilli 6 and South Delhi Superstarz on Saturday.  

Although Pant has never bowled in an international game, he took the chance to try spin bowling with the Superstarz requiring just 1 run to secure the win.

Rishabh Pant to bowl for India? 

Many view this as a potential audition for Rishabh Pant, especially in light of Gautam Gambhir’s recent appointment as head coach of the Indian cricket team, under whom several big players who hadn’t bowled before were seen bowling in the latest ODI series.

Unfortunately, it was a challenging day for Rishabh Pant with the bat, as he could only muster 35 runs from 32 balls and appeared to struggle against spin, a concern for Indian cricket fans.

Talking about the match, standout fifties from captain Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya guided the South Delhi Superstarz to a three-wicket win over Purani Dilli 6 in the opening game of the inaugural Delhi Premier League T20 at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.
