India’s batting sensation Rinku Singh has expressed his wish to join the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) if the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) release him before the IPL 2025 mega auction.
The Uttar Pradesh batter mentioned the presence of Virat Kohli as the main reason behind his desire to join RCB. Notably, the duo shares a special bond and are often spotted doing fun together on the sidelines.
Rinku Singh’s breakthrough came with his stellar performance in IPL 2023, leading to his first national selection. His standout moment was smashing Yash Dayal for five consecutive sixes in a match against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
The 26-year-old has appeared in two ODIs and 23 T20Is so far. Here’s what Rinku Singh said when questioned about his team choice if KKR does not keep him in IPL 2025:
“RCB, because Virat Kohli is there.”
Rinku Singh was also part of the reserve squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. He later travelled to Sri Lanka for a three-match T20 series, where he showcased his bowling skills by taking two wickets in a brief spell.

Rinku Singh, who expressed disappointment at not being chosen for Duleep Trophy 2024, remains optimistic about his chances for the next round of matches.
“I haven’t performed that well. I didn’t play many Ranji Trophy matches, only 2-3, and I didn’t perform well, that’s why I wasn’t selected. Hopefully, my name will be included for the next matches,” he added.
“Everyone knows now because, in the last match against Sri Lanka, I bowled and took 2 wickets, so everyone knows that I can bowl as well,” Singh concluded.
Rinku Singh will be playing for the Meerut Mavericks in the second season of the Uttar Pradesh T20 League.
