The Pakistan cricket team has announced its playing XI for the opening Test of the home season against Bangladesh, scheduled to start on August 21 in Rawalpindi.

Shan Masood is set to captain the team for the second time, and it will be his first time leading at home since being named Test captain late last year. Middle-order batter Saud Shakeel will serve as his new vice-captain.

Mohammad Rizwan has been chosen as the wicketkeeper-batter instead of Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Mir Hamza has also been left out of the pace attack, with the team relying on the experience of Shaheen Afridi and Naeem Shah.

The pace attack also includes Khurram Shehzad and Mohammad Ali, with batting all-rounder Salman Ali Agha serving as the sole spin option.

Pakistan’s last Test series ended in a disappointing 0-3 whitewash against Australia earlier this year. However, they remain unbeaten against Bangladesh in Test matches, with 12 wins and one draw out of 13 encounters.
