Not very long ago, Indian spinner Amit Mishra claimed that Virat Kohli had changed significantly after getting fame, suggesting that he was no longer the same as he was in his early days of cricket.

This statement from Amit Mishra sparked controversy, but many cricketers have since come forward to indirectly refute his claim, stating that Mishra’s claims are incorrect.

The latest to join this conversation is Piyush Chawla. The former Indian leg-spinner mentioned that his friendship with Virat Kohli has remained unchanged since day one, and they continue to share mutual respect and camaraderie.

On the ‘2 Sloggers Podcast’ on YouTube, Piyush Chawla said:

“I’ve learned a lot from him. He’s a senior player, and the way he’s played cricket and bowled over the years, he’s done a great job. I also saw that podcast; it was great. In all my interactions with Virat, whether while playing or meeting off the field, it has always been a positive experience for me.

“We played junior cricket together, and later in the IPL. When we played for India, things were always good between us. Everyone has their own perspective, but as far as my interactions with him go, we still get along very well.”

Piyush Chawla further revealed that he alway enjoys his company. He also recalled a recent encounter with Kohli during the Asia Cup 2023, where they joked about ordering food, reminiscent of their old days.

“In fact, when I was doing commentary during the Asia Cup 2023 and was standing on the boundary, Virat was fielding nearby. He came over to me and said, ‘PC, let’s order something good,’ because we both love food. Even today, our conversations are just like they were 10-15 years ago. It has always been a great experience with him.”
