Purani Dilli-6 and East Delhi Riders faced off in the fifth match of the Delhi Premier League 2024. The match took place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on August 20. 

East Delhi Riders won the toss and chose to field first. Their lead bowler, Simarjeet Singh, quickly dismantled Purani Dilli-6’s top-order, taking three crucial wickets early on. 

Struggling to recover from the early collapse, Purani Dilli-6 managed a late surge with a 70-run stand for the eighth wicket by Mayank Gusain and Yug Gupta, eventually reaching 142/8 in their 20 overs. 

In reply, the East Delhi Riders started well but lost four wickets for just 11 runs within 20 deliveries, putting them in a difficult position. However, Hardik Sharma and Mayank Rawat formed a crucial 53-run partnership, steadying the innings for the team.

While at the crease, Hardik Sharma struck one boundary and two sixes. One of those sixes came on the fourth ball of the 11th over. He executed a signature Surya-scoop, known as Supla Shot perfectly timing it for maximum impact.

Though Hardik couldn’t see the game through, Mayank Rawat (55* off 27) made sure the team crossed the finish line without further issues. East Delhi Riders won the match by five wickets with two overs to spare.
