The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Sunday, August 25, that England fast bowler Mark Wood will miss the Sri Lanka Test series due to a muscle strain.
After leaving the field during the second innings of the first Test, Wood will miss the last two matches of the series. The ECB has named 20-year-old Josh Hull as his replacement.
Earlier this month, Hull made his debut for the England Lions against the Sri Lankan tourists, claiming five wickets for 74 runs in the team’s seven-wicket win.
Hull has played 9 first-class matches, taking 15 wickets at an average of 58.06. In List A cricket, he boasts a superior record with 17 wickets from 9 games at an average of 24.23.
