MS Dhoni, celebrated as one of the most successful captains, is known for always being there to mentor and lead his players during matches.

However, in a rare instance, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh revealed that MS Dhoni once declined to guide a bowler who sought his help.

The incident took place during the Indian Premier League when MS Dhoni was captaining Chennai Super Kings, and Shardul Thakur was part of the CSK squad.

Even after being hit for consecutive boundaries by Kane Williamson, Shardul Thakur continued to bowl at the same length, prompting Harbhajan Singh to ask MS Dhoni to intervene and assist him.

“Shardul Thakur was bowling and the first ball Kane Williamson hit him down the ground for a boundary. Next ball, same length and Williamson played the same shot. I went to MS and asked him to tell Shardul try and bowl different length,” Harbhajan Singh told Taruwar Kohli.

However, MS Dhoni refused to assist, explaining that he wouldn’t always be there and that the bowlers needed to learn certain lessons on their own.

“MS said to me ‘Paaji agar aaj bataunga na, yeh kabhi nahi seekhega (If I will tell him now, then he will never learn). Let him learn by himself’.
