Ishan Kishan, the wicketkeeper-batter, may miss the first round of the Duleep Trophy 2024, which begins on September 5. Although the exact reason for his absence is not confirmed, it is suspected to be due to an injury.

With Ishan Kishan potentially out, Sanju Samson may get a chance to shine. Although this hasn’t been confirmed, it is widely believed that Samson could replace Kishan in Team D for the Duleep Trophy.

Ishan Kishan’s situation is a major disappointment for his chances of being selected for India’s Test squad for the upcoming busy home season, featuring five matches against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

BCCI and Ishan Kishan Relationship Strained

Additionally, the relationship between Ishan Kishan and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been strained since the BCCI removed him from their central contract. This decision came after the Ranchi batter refused to participate in domestic cricket during his off time.

Although he later agreed to play domestic cricket, Ishan Kishan has not yet been reinstated in the BCCI’s central contract list. He must be eager to re-enter the Indian team, but with no openings for wicketkeeper-batters across all three formats at the moment, it will be interesting to see how he manages to secure a spot.
