Indian cricket stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have arrived ahead of the much-anticipated Test series against Bangladesh, which is set to begin on September 19. Both players are back in action following a well-deserved break, and they are keen to make an impact in what will be a crucial series for India.

Alongside Rohit and Kohli, key players like Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant had already made their way to the city a day earlier. 

After a disappointing loss in the ODI series against Sri Lanka in August, the team, now under the leadership of newly-appointed coach Gautam Gambhir, is eager to turn the tide and get back to winning ways.

This series will also mark India’s first Test under Gambhir’s leadership, and it’s expected to offer fresh insights into the team’s new approach, especially with Bangladesh on a high after their recent success.

A Challenging Test for India

The Bangladesh side comes into this series brimming with confidence after a 2-0 victory over Pakistan in their last Test series. With such momentum behind them, they will be eager to challenge India on their home turf. India, however, has much at stake in this two-match series as it involves crucial World Test Championship (WTC) points.

India currently tops the WTC standings with 68.52 percentage points, closely followed by Australia at 62.50%. Bangladesh has also made significant progress, climbing to the fourth spot with 45.83% following their dominant win over Pakistan. 

Rohit Sharma and Co. will be looking to secure as many points as possible, especially as they prepare for a demanding Test season ahead, which includes a three-Test series against New Zealand and the prestigious five-match Border-Gavaskar series in Australia later this year.

Test Series Outlook

India will need to be at their best against a Bangladesh side that’s not to be underestimated. Their wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das played a huge role in the recent Pakistan series, and the Indian bowlers will have to find a way to neutralize him.

The second Test of the India-Bangladesh series is scheduled to take place in Kanpur from September 27, and fans are eagerly waiting to see how the Indian team, under the new coaching staff, fares in this crucial series.
