The former Australian cricketer and legend Ricky Ponting is all set to start a new stint in the IPL, this time with the Punjab Kings. He is currently in discussions with the team to take up the role of head coach starting next season.

Ricky Ponting, who was with the Delhi Capitals until this year, parted ways with the team after failing to lead them to glory. Since then, the Australian legend has expressed his eagerness to make a comeback if given a chance in the IPL.

“I’ve had a great time every year that I’ve been involved, whether that was in the early days as a player or the couple of years I had at Mumbai as head coach there. And then I’ve had seven seasons at Delhi, which unfortunately didn’t really work out the way that I would have wanted and certainly the way that the franchise would have wanted. I think me going there was all about trying to bring some silverware to the team and that didn’t happen,” Ponting had said after leaving Delhi Capitals. 

A New Journey Awaits Ricky Ponting in IPL

Meanwhile, the Punjab Kings have approached Ricky Ponting for the head coach role. However, neither party has confirmed whether he has accepted the position, but according to a report from Cricbuzz, the deal between them has been signed.

Punjab Kings, like the Delhi Capitals, have not yet won an IPL trophy. With the potential addition of Ricky Ponting, they will be hoping to end their long IPL trophy drought.
