The upcoming 2nd Test between India and Bangladesh, scheduled for September 27 at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, has sparked major security concerns. With rising tension among Indian cricket fans, security around the Bangladesh team has been significantly strengthened.

Tight Security Around Stadium and Hotel

Kanpur police have implemented a “foolproof” security plan around both Green Park Stadium and Hotel Landmark, where the teams are staying. DCP (East) Shrawan Kumar Singh, the event’s nodal officer, stated that the areas have been split into different zones, monitored by senior officers.

Traffic diversions have also been put in place to maintain order. Shrawan Kumar Singh expressed confidence in their security preparations, saying that they are carefully reviewing protocols and have enough personnel to manage the situation.

Protests Sparked by Tensions

The increase in security follows protests led by the Akhilesh Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha against the Bangladesh team. The protests, fueled by allegations of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, led to 20 protesters being named in an FIR for blocking roads and conducting a ‘havan’ near the stadium, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Harish Chander.
