A disturbing report initially circulated during the second Test between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur, claiming that Tiger Roby, the Bangladesh cricket team’s super fan, was brutally beaten by Indian fans.

However, a closer look at the incident reveals that the truth is quite different. Roby, dressed in his iconic tiger costume, was taken to the hospital not because of any attack but due to a health scare.

Initial Incident Raises Concerns

The incident occurred on Day 1 of the India vs Bangladesh Test match at Green Park Stadium. Early reports suggested that Roby had been assaulted by a group of Indian fans while seated in stand C. News spread quickly, with videos shared on social media showing Roby being escorted to the hospital by police after being seen in distress.

Reality: Health Deterioration, Not Violence

However, further investigations and statements from Roby himself revealed that no such assault took place. In reality, Roby’s health had deteriorated during the match due to dehydration, causing him to faint.

According to officials at the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, Roby struggled to communicate what was wrong at the time but later clarified that he had not been attacked.
In a media interaction after being discharged from the hospital, Roby explained, “I wasn’t beaten by anyone. I felt weak and dehydrated. That’s why I fainted, and the police took me to the hospital.”

Misunderstanding Cleared Up

A police officer who was present at the scene also supported this version of events.

“We had a constable monitoring the stands, and there was no sign of any violence. Roby seemed to be in pain and unwell, so we provided him with first aid and called for an ambulance,” the officer said.

What was initially reported as a fan assault turned out to be a case of poor health. Tiger Roby’s condition improved after receiving treatment at the hospital, and he later assured everyone that there had been no violence.
