India’s opening duo, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, made history with a blistering start in the second Test against Bangladesh at Kanpur. On Day 4, after dismissing Bangladesh for 233 runs, Rohit and Jaiswal took full control with their attacking intent right from the first ball. Their aggressive batting saw them smash boundaries all over the ground, breaking a long-standing Test cricket record.

India Breaks Fastest 50 Record

Rohit and Jaiswal raced to 50 runs in just 3 overs, marking the first time in Test cricket history that a team reached the 50-run mark so quickly. The record-breaking effort eclipsed the previous best set by England, who had scored 50 runs in 26 balls earlier in 2024 against the West Indies at Trent Bridge. However, India shattered that record in style, getting there in just 18 balls.

Before this, India’s fastest team fifty had come against England in Chennai in 2008, when they reached 50 runs in 5.2 overs. But the aggressive approach in Kanpur has set a new benchmark in the game.
