Paras Mhambrey, the former India bowling coach, is all set to take charge as the new bowling coach for Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2025 IPL season. Though an official announcement is yet to be made, reports from Times of India suggest that Mhambrey has already agreed to join the five-time champions’ coaching team. He will team up with Lasith Malinga and TA Sekhar in this role.

Mhambrey brings valuable experience, having previously worked with key players in the Mumbai Indians’ camp, such as Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya. This prior association is expected to ease his transition into the new role and help him guide the fast bowlers effectively. Alongside Malinga, the World Cup-winning coach will aim to enhance the team’s bowling performance and sharpen the pace attack.

Previous Success with India’s National Team

Paras Mhambrey’s credentials include a successful stint as India’s bowling coach, where he worked closely with Rahul Dravid. His collaboration with Dravid began with the U19 setup, and his impressive work earned him a promotion to the senior men’s team, replacing Bharat Arun. The former right-arm bowler was also part of the coaching team that guided India to victory in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

With Mhambrey’s contract with the Indian team recently coming to an end—replaced by Morne Morkel in the current setup—he now shifts his focus to the IPL, ready to leave his mark on Mumbai Indians’ bowling attack. The franchise will look to leverage his expertise as they aim for their sixth IPL title.
