The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s Test squad for the upcoming five-match series against Australia. Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the team, with Jasprit Bumrah serving as his deputy.

Abhimanyu Easwaran, known for his consistent performances in domestic cricket, has earned a place in the squad as a backup opener. This call-up marks a significant milestone for the Bengal batter, who has been knocking on the national team’s doors for some time. Additionally, Harshit Rana, a promising young pacer, has received his maiden Test call-up, providing an exciting option in India’s fast-bowling arsenal.

While Prasidh Krishna returns to the squad after recovering from an injury, India will miss the services of Mohammed Shami. The experienced fast bowler could not recover in time for the series and will be unavailable for the Australia tour. Another setback comes with Kuldeep Yadav’s exclusion, as the left-arm wrist spinner is set to undergo rehabilitation for a groin injury.
