In a recent podcast, Steyn revealed his admiration for Dhoni, emphasizing that he would be more than willing to take a pay cut just to be part of CSK’s setup. The South African pacer, who has always been drawn to Dhoni’s leadership style, stated:

“I am a big admirer of MS Dhoni. I always wanted to be part of CSK. I was even willing to take a pay cut just to be in the CSK environment. I was ready to sit on CSK’s bench if it meant being part of the team.”

With ambitions of furthering his coaching career, Steyn hopes to absorb Dhoni’s game insights and leadership skills. “If you learn from the best who’s done it the most, like Dhoni, that would have been quite nice,” Steyn added.

Having represented franchises like Deccan Chargers, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Lions, Steyn was feared for his ability to swing the ball at top speeds. His final IPL stint as a player was with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2020.

In 2022, he moved to a coaching role with Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he played a crucial role in developing the team’s younger bowlers.
