The incident occurred when Siraj bowled a short-of-length delivery that nipped back and struck Labuschagne’s thigh pad. As the ball rolled close to the stumps, Siraj followed through to collect it, but Labuschagne deflected it with his bat, even though it wasn’t heading for the stumps. This action didn’t sit well with Siraj, especially since Labuschagne wasn’t fully inside the crease at the time.
The disagreement led to a brief exchange of words between the two. Virat Kohli, fielding in his usual animated style, also seemed visibly upset. At one point, Kohli removed the bails while Siraj attempted to kick the ball toward the stumps, but Labuschagne was safely inside his crease.
Indian Pacers Dominate Day 1
