In one of the most dramatic finishes in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) history, Rangpur Riders‘ captain Nurul Hasan Sohan chased down a daunting target of 26 runs in the final over. It all happened during the 13th match of the league between Fortune Barishal and Rangpur Riders.
With Kyle Mayers tasked with bowling the crucial over, Nurul Hasan delivered a display of pure power hitting, scoring 30 runs from it. He began by smashing the first ball for a huge six over deep mid-wicket. On the very next ball, Sohan pulled a short delivery to fine leg for a four, reducing the required runs quickly.
The Rangpur Riders captain wasn’t done yet – Sohan hit another four to backward square leg on the third ball, followed by a spectacular six to the same region on the fourth ball, bringing the equation down to just a few runs.
With confidence building, Nurul Hasan drove the fifth ball for a boundary to sweeper cover, putting the Riders on the brink of victory. Finally, with only one ball remaining, Sohan sealed the match with a massive six to deep mid-wicket, helping the Riders maintain their unbeaten streak in the tournament.
Earlier, the Fortune Barishal posted 197 runs on the board, thanks to the power-hitting done by Najmul Hossain Shanto, Kyle Mayers, Towhid Hridoy. As for the run-chase, apart from Nurul Hasan, Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdil Shah shone for the Riders.
