Dinesh Karthik, currently playing for Paarl Royals in the SA20 2025, praised the tournament during an on-field interaction at Boland Park. While keeping wickets in the match against Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Karthik spoke to the commentators and explained why he chose to play in the SA20.

When asked about his decision, Karthik shared that he sees the SA20 as the second-best T20 league in the world after the IPL.

“I wanted to play here because it’s highly competitive and stands right after the IPL in terms of quality,” he said.

Rules for Indian Cricketers in Overseas Leagues

Indian players are not allowed to participate in foreign T20 leagues while still playing in domestic or international cricket. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) enforces this rule to maintain the exclusivity of Indian players in the IPL.

Karthik retired from all formats of Indian cricket in June 2024, allowing him to take part in the SA20. To participate, he had to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the BCCI.
