The second match of the ILT20 2025 was held at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Desert Vipers won the toss and chose to bowl first, hoping to restrict Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. However, Phil Salt had other plans.
The English batter, playing his debut game for the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, delivered an exceptional performance. He smashed an unbeaten 71 runs from just 49 balls, hitting 5 fours and 4 sixes. His innings came against a strong bowling attack featuring Amir, Wood, Ferguson, and Sam Curran.
Salt’s knock anchored the team’s innings after they lost early wickets. He added 86 runs with Alishan Sharafu for the fourth wicket in just 60 balls, stabilizing the innings. Later, he shared a quick 41-run partnership with Andre Russell for the fifth wicket.
With Salt leading from the front, the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders managed to post a competitive total of 166 for the loss of five wickets.
This performance is also a big boost for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans. Salt was bought by RCB for INR 11.5 crore during the IPL 2025 auction last month. His debut innings shows he can be a valuable asset for the team.
