In an exciting match at the Adelaide Oval, Sydney Sixers chased down Adelaide Strikers’ total of 182/5 with just one ball to spare, winning by 3 wickets.
The Strikers posted a competitive total, with Ollie Pope’s 57 and Alex Ross’s 48 leading the way. However, the Sixers managed to reach 183/7, thanks to a strong innings from Steven Smith (52) and a late finish from Hayden Kerr (18*).
Adelaide Strikers, batting first, were in a strong position throughout the innings. Their openers, Matthew Short and D Arcy Short, both struggled early on, with Matthew falling for just 4 runs. Moises Henriques also went out for 15, leaving the Sixers at a challenging position at 92/4 in the 10th over.
However, Steven Smith played a brilliant knock of 52 runs off 31 balls, holding the innings together. Lachlan Shaw added 32 runs before falling to Lloyd Pope. With 36 runs needed off 24 balls, Ben Dwarshuis (30) and Hayden Kerr (18*) led the team to victory. A crucial final over bowled by Jordan Buckingham saw Kerr hold his nerve, guiding the Sixers to a thrilling 3-wicket win with just one ball to spare.
