Team India faced several controversies during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. One of the biggest issues was the leak of private dressing room conversations to the media. Head coach Gautam Gambhir strongly criticized this during a press conference before the fifth and final Test against Australia. Reports say Gambhir even warned players to follow his instructions or risk being dropped from the team.

According to News 24, Gambhir accused young batter Sarfaraz Khan of leaking the sensitive information. Notably, Sarfaraz did not play any match in the five-Test series but he was present in the dressing room and now being blamed for sharing inside details to journalists.

Gautam Gambhir’s Strict Stance

During a meeting with the BCCI officials, Gambhir reportedly named Sarfaraz as the source of the leak. India captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar were also present at the meeting.

Gambhir had already expressed his frustration with the team’s performance after their loss in the fourth Test and even criticized Rishabh Pant for playing a reckless shot in Melbourne.

When asked about the dressing room leaks during a press conference, Gambhir avoided direct answers but stressed the importance of keeping team discussions private.

Sarfaraz Khan in Trouble

Sarfaraz, who made his Test debut against England last year, has played only six matches so far. With 371 runs in his brief career, the 27-year-old has not yet established himself in the Indian team. Being linked to such controversies could harm his chances of getting more opportunities at the international level.
