Smaran Ravichandran has been making a lot of noise in domestic cricket with his impressive performances. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024, he scored 170 runs in 6 matches with an explosive strike rate of 212.

Later, in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, he scored over 433 runs in 7 matches at an average of 72, including a century in the final against Vidarbha.

However, despite his strong performances in domestic cricket, Smaran has not yet made his IPL debut. He has tried his luck by giving trials for several IPL teams over the last two years.

As per CricXtasy, the 21-year-old has appeared for trials with Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants, and Rajasthan Royals before IPL 2025 mega- auction. He also had a trial with Delhi Capitals last year, but none of these trials turned into contracts.

In the IPL 2025 mega-auction, which held in Jeddah, Smaran Ravichandran went unsold, which was a surprise to many cricket fans who felt his aggressive batting style and consistency in domestic cricket would make him a valuable asset for an IPL team.

Smaran, however, is not discouraged by this setback. He believes that if he continues to perform well for Karnataka, he will get his chance in the IPL. “It’s everyone’s dream to play in the IPL and showcase our skills there,” Smaran said in an interview with CricXtasy.

For now, Smaran is focused on helping Karnataka win more titles. He believes that doing well for his team will eventually open doors for his IPL dream. With his talent and hard work, it may only be a matter of time before he gets his big break in the IPL.
