AB de Villiers, one of the best cricketers of the modern era, is set to return to the sport after almost four years. Known for his incredible skills and powerful batting, de Villiers retired from all forms of cricket. But now, fans around the world are excited as the South African legend announces his comeback.
AB de Villiers’ Return to Cricket
De Villiers will captain the Game Changers South Africa Champions in the second edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), a tournament that brings together retired and non-contracted cricket legends.
Talking about his decision to return, de Villiers said:
“Four years ago, I retired because I didn’t feel like playing anymore. But over time, my young sons started playing cricket, and I joined them in the garden. It reignited my passion for the game. So, I’ve started training again and will be ready for the WCL in July.”
Team’s Strength with AB de Villiers Leading
De Villiers’ return is a huge boost for the Game Changers squad, which already includes legends like Jacques Kallis, Herschelle Gibbs, Dale Steyn, and Imran Tahir.
Amandeep Singh, co-owner of South Africa Champions, expressed his excitement, saying, “Having AB de Villiers as our captain is a massive boost. His leadership will inspire the team to achieve great things.” Harry Singh, another co-owner, added, “AB is an icon, and his return shows his love for the game. We’re thrilled to have him with us.”
Harshit Tomar, CEO of WCL, shared his joy: “Bringing back legends like AB de Villiers is why we started the WCL. Fans worldwide, especially in England, will be thrilled to see him back on the field.” Nishant Pitti, Chief Patron of WCL, also welcomed de Villiers’ return, calling it a celebration of cricket’s golden era.
