Four Killed in Gambling Dispute Between Families in Madhya Pradesh

On January 27, 2025, a violent clash between two families in Timri village, located near Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, led to the death of four individuals. The conflict escalated quickly from a long-standing dispute over gambling activities.

According to The Times of India report, the incident occurred in the morning at around 9:30 AM. Members of the Sahu family allegedly attacked five individuals from the Pathak and Dubey families with swords and sticks. The victims, who were severely injured in the attack, included three members—Satish Pathak, Manish Pathak, and Aniket Dubey— were declared dead on spot. Another individual, Sameer Dubey, passed away later in the hospital. Two others, Vipin and Mukesh Dubey, sustained critical injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.

The families involved reportedly had a history of disagreements linked to gambling disputes. Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suryakant Sharma revealed that the dispute began when an intoxicated individual named Kalu instigated a disturbance, leading to the confrontation and the situation got out of control, resulting in the deadly attack.

Following the incident, residents of the area staged a protest by blocking the Patan-Jabalpur Road, demanding swift action from law enforcement. The protests prompted authorities to deploy additional police forces to maintain peace in the region. Senior police officials have since taken control of the situation to prevent further unrest.

Law enforcement has launched a murder investigation and detained multiple suspects for questioning. Efforts are ongoing to gather more details and determine the events that led to the fatal attack.
