The third T20 match between India and England is being played in Rajkot. India is already leading the three-match series 2-0, having won the first two games. England needs a win in this match to stay in the series and avoid a clean sweep.
India won the toss and chose to bowl first. Suryakumar Yadav, India’s captain, said the pitch looks good for batting, and it might not change much later. Mohammed Shami is back in India’s playing XI after 14 months, replacing Arshdeep Singh, who has been rested.
On the other side, England captain Jos Buttler said they were also looking to bowl first but are ready to bat on what seems like a great wicket. England is playing with the same team as the last match, but Jamie Smith is keeping wickets in place of Philip Salt, who is dealing with a stiff calf.
What Captains Said Before the Match
Suryakumar Yadav: “We will bowl first; the pitch looks nice and hard. Rajkot always has good sporting wickets. We are treating this as a new three-game series, and the boys are ready for the challenge. Tilak bailed us out in the last match, and we want to play smart cricket. Arshdeep is resting, and Shami comes in.
Jos Buttler: “It looks like a really good surface for batting. We fought hard in the last match, but India played really well. To win today, we need to put up a good total. Salt has a stiff calf, so Jamie Smith will keep wickets.”
