Fortune Barishal registered a thumping nine-wickets victory over Dhaka Capitals, chasing down a small target of 74 runs in just 6.3 overs in the 38th match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25. The match, played in Dhaka, was completely one-sided as the Barishal bowlers destroyed the Capitals’ batting lineup.

Dhaka Capitals Collapse After Batting First

Fortune Barishal won the toss and decided to bowl first. The decision turned out to be perfect as Dhaka Capitals were bowled out for just 73 runs in 15.3 overs. The Barishal bowlers dominated from the start and never allowed the Capitals to settle.

Tanvir Islam was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for just two runs in two overs. Mohammad Nabi also picked up three wickets, giving away only nine runs. Faheem Ashraf joined the party, taking three wickets for 15 runs. The Capitals’ top scorer was Thisara Perera, who made 15 runs off 11 balls. None of the other batters could cross 10 runs, and their innings ended in disappointment.

Barishal Chase the Target in No Time

With just 74 runs needed to win, Fortune Barishal openers Tamim Iqbal and Towhid Hridoy gave a solid start. They added 21 runs in 2.2 overs before Hridoy got out for 15 off 9 balls. Dawid Malan then came in and played aggressively. He smashed an unbeaten 37 runs off just 16 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes.

Tamim Iqbal remained not out on 21 runs off 14 balls. Their partnership of 56 runs for the second wicket made sure Barishal won the match in just 6.3 overs, with nine wickets in hand. It was a completely one-sided contest, with Fortune Barishal dominating in both batting and bowling.
