Towhid Hridoy and Dawid Malan delivered a match-winning partnership as Fortune Barishal defeated Chittagong Kings by 9 wickets at the Shere Bangla Stadium on February 3. With this win, Fortune Barishal have secured a place in the final of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25.

Chasing 150, Fortune Barishal lost their captain Tamim Iqbal (29 off 26) at 55/1 in the ninth over. However, Towhid Hridoy and Dawid Malan ensured there were no further hiccups.

Hridoy played a dominant knock, scoring an unbeaten 82 off 56 balls, including nine fours and two sixes. He controlled the chase beautifully, keeping the scoreboard ticking with regular boundaries. Malan, on the other hand, played a supporting role, remaining unbeaten on 34 off 22 balls with two fours and a six.

The duo stitched an unbroken 95-run stand, guiding Fortune Barishal to victory in just 17.2 overs. Their partnership ensured that the team finished the group stage on a high note, heading into the playoffs with strong momentum.

Mohammad Ali’s Memorable BPL Debut

Earlier, Fortune Barishal’s bowlers did a commendable job in restricting Chittagong Kings to 149/9. Mohammad Ali was the standout performer, taking 5 wickets for just 24 runs. Kyle Mayers picked up two wickets, while Ebadot Hossain and Rishad Hossain claimed one each.

Despite a lone fight from Shamim Hossain (79 off 47), Chittagong Kings struggled to build partnerships, losing wickets at regular intervals. Their bowlers also failed to make an impact as Fortune Barishal’s batters chased the target with ease.
