MI Cape Town emerged as the champions of SA20 2025, defeating Sunrisers Eastern Cape by 76 runs in the final at The Wanderers, Johannesburg, on February 8.
MI Cape Town posted 181/8 in 20 overs, with crucial contributions from Dewald Brevis (38 off 18), Connor Esterhuizen (39 off 26), and Ryan Rickelton (33 off 15).
In response, Sunrisers Eastern Cape crumbled for just 105 runs, as Kagiso Rabada produced a match-winning spell of 4/25 in 3.4 overs. This victory marked MI Cape Town’s first-ever SA20 title.

The winners of SA20 2025 received a grand prize of 32.5 million rands (approximately ₹15.5 crore). Meanwhile, the runner-up team, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, took home ₹7.75 crore. The third-placed team earned ₹4.24 crore, while the fourth-placed team secured ₹3.74 crore.
IPL 2025 Prize Money Breakdown
The Indian Premier League 2025, which was won by Kolkata Knight Riders, had a significantly higher prize pool. The winners received ₹20 crore, while the runner-up, Sunrisers Hyderabad, took home ₹13 crore. The team finishing in third place earned ₹7 crore, and the fourth-placed team received ₹6.5 crore.
Difference in Prize Money Between SA20 & IPL
The prize money gap between SA20 and IPL is quite large. While the SA20 winners earned ₹16.2 crore, IPL 2025 champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, received ₹20 crore, which is nearly ₹4 crore more. Additionally, the IPL 2025 runner-up, Sunrisers Hyderabad, got ₹13 crore, almost ₹5 crore more than SA20’s runner-up.
Moreover, the third and fourth-placed teams in IPL 2025 received ₹7 crore and ₹6.5 crore, which is considerably higher than SA20’s ₹4.24 crore and ₹3.74 crore, respectively.
