India produced yet another dominant performance to outclass England by 142 runs in the third and final ODI at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, sealing a 3-0 series whitewash.
Batting first, India posted a mammoth 356, thanks to Shubman Gill’s century and vital contributions from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. England, despite a strong start, collapsed yet again, folding for 214 inside 35 overs.
Shubman Gill Shines as India Posts 356
After losing Rohit Sharma early, Gill (112 off 102) and Kohli (52 off 55) built a solid partnership. Shreyas Iyer (78 off 64) provided the acceleration, while KL Rahul (40 off 29) chipped in with quick runs. Adil Rashid (4/64) was the only standout bowler for England, but the visitors still conceded a daunting 356 for 10 in 50 overs.
England’s Batting Collapses Again
Chasing 357, England started aggressively, with Ben Duckett (34 off 22) and Philip Salt (23 off 21) putting India under pressure. However, once the openers fell, England suffered another middle-order collapse. Tom Banton (38 off 41) and Joe Root (24 off 29) failed to carry on, and Jos Buttler’s poor form continued (6 off 9). A late cameo from Gus Atkinson (38 off 19) wasn’t enough as England was bowled out for 214 in just 34.2 overs.
Indian Bowlers Seal the Whitewash
India’s bowlers once again delivered a clinical performance. Arshdeep Singh (2/33) and Harshit Rana (2/31) provided early breakthroughs, while Axar Patel (2/22) and Hardik Pandya (2/38) ran through the lower order. Kuldeep Yadav (1/38) and Washington Sundar (1/43) also chipped in as India completed a convincing 142-run win.
