Bengaluru GAFX 2025 Ignites the Future of Immersive Media

Bengaluru GAFX 2025, India’s largest event for the AVGC-XR industry, began today at The Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru. The event, powered by the Department of Electronics, IT, BT & S&T, Government of Karnataka, in collaboration with ABAI, will run from February 27 to March 1, 2025. With the theme “Future of Immersion: EXPERIENCE. EXPLORE. DISRUPT.,” the event highlights innovations in animation, visual effects, gaming, and extended reality.

The inauguration featured Shri Priyank Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for Rural Development, Panchayat Raj, and IT & BT, Government of Karnataka. Mr. Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, attended as the Special Guest of Honour.

Other notable attendees included Dr. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Executive Chairperson & Founder, Biocon Limited, Shri Rizwan Arshad, MLA, Karnataka, Shri Sharath Bachegowda, MLA & Chairman, KEONICS, and Mr. Marc Lamy, Consul General of France, Bengaluru. Key industry leaders such as Mr. Nitish Mittersain, CEO & MD, Nazara Technologies, and Mr. Ashish Kulkarni, Founder & CEO, Punnaryug Artvision Pvt. Ltd., were also present.

Shri Priyank Kharge emphasized India’s growing impact in the global animation and gaming industry. “Our professionals are not just contributing to global projects—they are leading them. The Indian gaming sector, despite the 28% GST, is growing at 23% year-on-year and is set to reach $3.8 billion by 2024.”

Dr. Ekroop Caur, Secretary, Department of Electronics, IT, BT, S&T, Government of Karnataka, highlighted Karnataka’s AVGC-XR leadership. “Home to over 300 AVGC studios and 15,000+ professionals, Karnataka introduced India’s first AVGC-XR policy in 2012. Our latest policy supports startups with investments up to ₹2 crore and includes plans for India’s first AVGC-XR Park.”

Mr. Biren Ghose, Chairman, Bengaluru GAFX & President, ABAI, shared insights on industry evolution. “Storytelling is evolving into immersive experiences. Bengaluru is at the center of this transformation, where technology, artistry, and innovation unite.”

    The Counter-Strike 2 grand finale will feature India’s top four esports teams competing at GAFX 2025.
