Three Arrested in Gambling Raids Across Panaji, Porvorim, and Colvale

In a series of gambling raids across different locations in Goa, police apprehended three individuals involved in illegal betting activities. The arrests were made in Panaji, Porvorim, and Colvale under the Prevention of Public Gambling Act.
According to a report by Goemkarponn, the first raid took place on Tuesday night at the Tinto, Nerul market. The police arrested 24-year-old Parana Rikate from Betim while he was accepting gambling bets in a public area and handing out slips with numerical values. Authorities confiscated ₹2,360 from him.
In another raid at Shantadurga Garage in Madel, Thivim, officers arrested Rupesh Naik, a 45-year-old resident of Thivim, Bardez. He was allegedly facilitating a “number game” in a public setting, collecting money from participants. The police seized ₹1,810 in various denominations along with other gambling-related materials.
The third raid, conducted by Panaji police at Taleigao Bandh, led to the arrest of 28-year-old Laxman Kumatagi from Taleigao. He was allegedly accepting wagers on numerical values from the public. Officers confiscated ₹1,130 in cash along with gambling-related items.
All three individuals were booked under the Prevention of Public Gambling Act. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to curbing illegal gambling activities in Goa.
Local law enforcement officials have been actively monitoring gambling activities in the region following reports of increased illegal betting. Officials believe these operations may be linked to larger gambling networks operating across multiple locations. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the accused were acting independently or as part of an organized racket.
