Australia posted 264 runs on the board after choosing to bat first in the Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final against India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. With a place in the final at stake, both teams were under pressure.
Rohit Sharma Gets a Lifeline Early in the Innings
Chasing 265, India’s openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started their innings. However, Australia missed a big opportunity early on.
In the fifth over, Rohit mistimed a shot off Nathan Ellis and sent the ball straight to Cooper Connolly. It looked like a simple catch, but Connolly failed to grab the ball, giving the Indian captain a second chance. Rohit was batting on 13 runs at that moment, and the drop could prove costly for Australia.
A Tough Miss for Australia
While it wasn’t the easiest of catches, Australia would have loved to get Rohit Sharma out early. With his aggressive batting style, the Indian skipper could now make the Aussies pay for the mistake.
Who Will Win?
This semi-final is a do-or-die game. The winner moves to the final, while the losing team is eliminated from the tournament. Will Australia regret dropping Rohit Sharma, or can they still fight back? Only time will tell!
