The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced new rules for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Some of these rules were earlier applied to the Indian national team and have now been extended to all 10 IPL franchises.

As per the new guidelines, all players must travel in the team bus when going for practice sessions. Teams are allowed to travel in two separate batches if needed. Players’ families and friends are not allowed in the dressing room, even on practice days.

A BCCI note sent to all teams stated:

  • Only accredited staff can enter the dressing room and the field during practice sessions.
  • Players’ family members and friends must use a different vehicle and can only watch the practice from a designated hospitality area.
  • Franchise teams must submit a list of additional support staff, such as net bowlers and throwdown specialists, for approval.

A senior franchise official supported these new rules, saying, “In our team, families and even the owners were not allowed in the dressing room before. Some players used to travel separately after matches, but that won’t be allowed from this season.”

Ban on Sleeveless Jerseys and Loose Clothes

The BCCI has also banned players from wearing sleeveless jerseys or loose clothes during the post-match presentation. If a player fails to follow this rule, they will receive a warning for the first offense. A fine will be imposed if the rule is broken again.

Additionally, all accredited players and officials must carry their accreditation cards on match days. If a player forgets their card, they will first get a warning. If it happens again, the team will have to pay a fine.

Strict Rules for LED Boards

The BCCI has also warned players not to hit the advertising LED boards outside the boundary. The board noted that despite providing hitting nets, some players continue to strike the LED boards.

The BCCI further stated:

  • Players and support staff should not sit directly in front of the LED boards.
  • Special marked areas will be designated for substitute players carrying towels and water bottles.

With these new rules in place, the IPL 2025 season will see stricter discipline both on and off the field.
