Mumbai Indians Women (MIW) pulled off a stunning fightback against UP Warriorz (UPW) in their Women’s Premier League (WPL) match. UPW was on track for a big total, but Amelia Kerr’s brilliant bowling changed the game. Her five-wicket haul stopped UPW at 150 runs.
UPW started strong, but Amelia Kerr turned the match around. The New Zealand leg-spinner took five wickets for 38 runs in her four overs. She dismissed key batters and broke UPW’s momentum. Her bowling made sure MIW stayed in the contest after a tough start.
Georgia Voll’s Aggressive Start
UPW made a bold move by sending Georgia Voll to open with Grace Harris. The plan worked perfectly as the two batters attacked MIW’s bowlers. They added 74 runs quickly. Voll played an aggressive innings and reached her fifty. Meanwhile, Harris got out after mis-hitting a short ball.
Voll continued playing well, but MIW got a breakthrough when she tried to scoop a ball and got out. This was a turning point in the match. After her dismissal, Deepti Sharma tried to hold the innings together, but wickets kept falling. UPW could not build a strong finish.
Sophie Ecclestone played a quick cameo towards the end, but it was not enough. UPW was once aiming for 180 or more, but MIW’s disciplined bowling kept them to 150. Amelia Kerr was the star of the innings, helping MIW control the game after a tough start.
